Paris, France, June 14, 2010-ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) has received 100 percent of the latest Omnibus VII contract from the U.S. Army Research, Development & Engineering Command Acquisition Center. Under the $8.4 million contract, ITT will continue supplying the AN/PVS-14 night vision monocular device for ground-based soldiers performing nighttime operations.

“Our ability to manufacture proven Generation 3 night vision technology has allowed us to become a trusted partner to our customers,” said Bruce A. Wald, vice president and general manager of ITT’s Night Vision & Imaging business. “Night vision goggles are a critical piece of a soldier’s ensemble and we are pleased to be able to support the Army’s night vision requirements with ITT’s most cost-effective, reliable and rugged night vision system.”

ITT has received Omnibus VII orders for nearly 400,000 AN/PVS-14 monocular devices, 3,000 AN/PVS-7 goggles and 100,000 associated spare image intensifier tubes. ITT continues to be the world’s leader in night vision technology and is the sole source for the U.S. Army’s first-sensor fused enhanced night vision goggle, or ENVG. The ENVG allows users to optically overlay thermal infrared imagery for target detection and image intensification for target identification into one goggle. Currently, ITT is developing a digital solution for the dismounted soldier in the battlefield. ITT developed five prototype ENVG (Digital) which digitally fuses image intensification and thermal infrared imagery that will allow images to be exported into the tactical network. These units were tested in April 2009.

The AN/PVS-14 is a high-performance, lightweight and reliable night vision goggle that provides enhanced resolution for target recognition and identification. These rugged devices can be hand-held, head- or weapon-mounted, or fitted to a camera. The AN/PVS-14 operates on a single AA battery, and comes equipped with ITT’s proprietary thin-filmed Pinnacle® image intensifier tube. The Pinnacle® tube has the ability to detect available light more than 10 times the power of previous generations.
