SACOP'S LOW LIGHT POLICY INITIATIVE
ITT Night Vision and law enforcement representatives have been tasked by the State Association of Chiefs of Police's SafeShield Project committee to draft a low-light/no-light operations model policy. The purpose of this committee and the reason for producing this policy is to keep officers safe and reduce the incidents of injury and fatality. The model policy needs to address low-light and no-light scenarios in a way that departments can adapt the policy to their needs and to different operating conditions. After a lengthy search, it appears that there are no departments that currently have a policy related to operating in low-light or no-light conditions. We have begun the process of requesting and reviewing military training guides and policies related to operating at night and plan to adapt these for law enforcement. However, if your department currently has a low-light/no-light model policy or training guide, please contact Elizabeth Fletchall at elizabeth.fletchall@itt.com.

GRANTS UPDATE
To help law enforcement agencies obtain funding for night vision equipment, ITT is proud to support agencies' grant-seeking activities. While some grants are not specifically for equipment, many have been identified as ones in which night vision equipment could be used to accomplish the ultimate goals of your program. State Farm Insurance

Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) "Fire Grants"

She is available to discuss particular areas of concern and to help customize a grant writing strategy as well as review your grant application prior to submission. ITT NIGHT VISION INTRODUCES NEW AD
We all know night vision is life saving technology. Unfortunately, due to the limited department budgets, many agencies end up purchasing less expensive night vision, only to leave it behind when it doesn't do the job. ITT Night Vision (ITT) has been working hard to educate the law enforcement community on the advantages of night vision; especially high-quality systems with superior technology. Side-by-side photos—one taken with an inexpensive unit and one using ITT technology—illustrate this point in a powerful way.

For more information on choosing the right technology for your night vision needs, visit www.nightvision.com/thedifference.
